KYCC Tobacco Task Force Team
Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) is partnering with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Tobacco Control Prevention Program (TCPP) to offer no-cost prevention presentations and advocacy workshops on youth and young adult tobacco use (including e-cigarette use and vaping). KYCC Tobacco Task Force Team aims to empower Los Angeles youth and young adults to not only break free from tobacco use, but to advocate for tobacco prevention policies in their community and help keep their peers free from tobacco-related harms.

Activities from KYCC Tobacco Task Force Team:

Collaborate with the Los Angeles Youth First Tobacco Coalition (LAYFTC) to network with youth and young adults and to discuss tobacco-related topics
-
Conduct Young Adult Purchase Surveys (YAPS) with coalition members to to assess willingness of retailers to sell tobacco
products to underage individuals

Conduct Public Opinion Surveys (POS) to determine support of a policy to ban flavor tobacco products, restrict youth access, and tobacco retail license fee

Collect letters of support / petition signatures for stronger policies

Conduct educational presentations to raise awareness on tobacco control issues

Recruit supporters to the campaign

Meet with media/elected officials to educate and inform them on the issue

Create various advocacy media projects
